The basis of this project was to determine how an extracurricular activity such as a conversational club in English and French could be helpful for the improvement of the communicative competence of modern languages students. The research was carried out with a group of students from fifth semester of the program mentioned before. This action research involves mainly qualitative data considering that this was collected through a class observation and an informal interview to the students. The comparison between the results of a diagnostic and final test helped to confirmed that the students improve their way to express in both languages from the moment the club started until the end of it. Journals indicated that the students were quite comfortable learning in a different environment and the writing, and speaking test done after the implementation showed that they were using the target languages more effectively when it refers to argue, analyze or simply communicate an idea. This report seeks to explain the entire process in a detailed way and to provide valuable information about the project development, such as the lesson plans used for the implementation stage, the findings, conclusions, among others.
