Summary: | This paper shows how the symbiosis of two disciplines, software engineering and ultrasonic techniques, made possible the development of a nondestructive testing system for TOFD imaging, and it also allowed to make the application of commercial computation tools independent. It illustrates the addition of three algorithms to the system, and they are tested by examining a metal cylinder containing a visible defect. The core of the system is an ultrasound card controlled through a computer application designed in .NET.
